A Crazy Exam Day
Education plays an important role for living a meaningful and purposeful life. Education empowers us and plays a vital role in grooming our personalities.
As everyone has some beautiful memories of their student life, I also have had some very interesting and memorable experiences throughout my exams.
All of my exams were packed with different interesting and exciting events amongst which the most memorable day was when it was our Civics paper. The exam was really tense and nail biting. The rest of my day was delightful and relieving for me. So let us begin our “crazy exam day”.
Date is 9th May 2023 and today is my Civics paper in the evening shift. Like any other exam day, I was really nervous. As my paper had to start at evening so I had some extra time in hand to revise the main points of all the important topics.
After that I got dressed, offered my prayers and ate lunch. I left my house at about 1:40 pm with my father. The examination hall was located in a girls’ college so we arrived there at about 1:55 pm.
The invigilator told us that the exam will start in 5 minutes. Afterwards she distributed us the MCQs which I finished in about 5 minutes. All the students except for me were cheating from pocket sized guide books and even though they had all the “help’’ with them they were asking me for the answers, some girls were quite irritating so I told them the wrong answers (which I also did in the rest of the papers).
Finally, the invigilator collected the MCQ’s and handed us the subjective type questions. As we were filling our papers the invigilator told us not to copy or cheat and if we have any cheating material with us then we should hand it over to her immediately.
She also asked us that from which institute we were from, on this question all of us replied that we were private students. She further investigated about why are we appearing in these exams and what are our future plans in terms of studies and career. And everyone shared their future plans.
After some while all the students opened up their pocket-sized guide books to copy the answers but the invigilator strictly forbid us from doing so or else, she will snatch our papers and cancel them.
On which all of us got frightened and started to whine and ask permission to cheat the paper as we didn’t have the time to study. The invigilator said, that as we were cheating, I will give you permission but on two conditions; first, that as the inspection team may arrive at any moment so we have to be very careful and the second condition was that we have to complete and submit our papers an hour before the designated time.
It was a relief for everyone except for me as I was shocked and perplexed to hear that because I had prepared for the exam by myself and I was not taking any help from the cheating material so I should have gotten the actual amount of time, which was my right. I was angry at all of this but what could I do? Everyone was satisfied.
I frantically started to fill my paper. At about 3:30 pm I started to recheck my paper which I was not giving any importance to but I found out that I had missed one short question and I have also replaced one of the answers with another one but I didn’t have any time for correction.
The invigilator collected the papers and we were free at about 4 o’clock. All the girls and staff started to leave. Me and my couple of friends decided to go out on a nearby biryani stall. I was scared that if my father came earlier and saw me outside the college, he would be mad at me.
My friends decided to sit inside the little stall like café. I had not brought any money so my friend shared her biryani with me. We spent about 15 minutes inside there. We walked back to the college, and on our way back, we ate some ice-cream. When we reached the college gate it was closed, I was wondering what is going to happen now with me, what would my father do to me in the context of this crime.
I decided to just wait and watch what happens because there’s no point of being concerned about such a small thing and just enjoy this time with my friends.
And guess what we had a great time. After a while chatting with my friend, the security guard opened the door. He told us to go to our homes but we had to wait for our ride so one of my friends convinced him to let us in, so me and my other friend Maria went in and Aiman left for home. We spent some time in the college garden and after that my father came to pick me up.
Finally, I came home and had some rest. That day another “historical” event took place, Imran khan the chairman of PTI got arrested and there was a total chaos all over the country.
I was praying that if the next exam could be delayed, I could have some more time to study. It was good news for me that because of this whole scenario the exams were re-scheduled in the whole country and I was super happy to hear because I have got more time to study.
So that was the end of my very interesting and quite “crazy” exam day. Hope you enjoyed it. At the end I would like to address some serious problems related to our education system.
First of all, unprofessionalism is starting to become a big part of our national behaviour. Nobody is doing their job properly.
The students; whether they are regular or private, are not taking their studies seriously. They are not understanding the concept of studies, they think that it’s just about grades, so just copy paste the entire paper from guide books.
The invigilators; they are giving the permission to cheat in the examinations, as long as they are out of trouble, they are okay with it.
The government should pay some attention to these problems and to the education system in our schools so the students cannot pass the examinations just by copy-pasting the answers. They should also learn something from what they are studying. And the government servants should also do their jobs honestly before they get in to some serious trouble.
Each and every one of us should play our role to make this country educated, and to develop our country in to a super power in the world.
